Pearly Beach<\/b>\u00a0is a village in\u00a0Overberg District Municipality<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0Western Cape<\/a>\u00a0Province of\u00a0South Africa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fishing on the rocks is a poplar activity, and whales frequent these waters during whale season. Scenic and peaceful, this beach is well suited for long walks.<\/p>\n

An area where the to\u00a0southern right whale<\/b>\u00a0(Eubalaena australis<\/i>) come to calve and mate along its migratory route (June \u2013 October). These whales can be seen with their young all along the coast line with Walker Bay just a short distance away. The area is home to the threatened\u00a0African oystercatcher<\/b> which can be seen on the rocky coasts, beaches and at lagoons eating limpets and mussels.<\/p>\n

Not far from Pearly Beach is\u00a0Dyers Island<\/a>, a breeding colony for\u00a0jackass penguins<\/a>. Not far from Dyers Island is\u00a0Geyser Island<\/a>, a breeding ground for\u00a0seals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As the area around these Islands teems with an abundance of sea life, it has become a notorious feeding ground for the\u00a0Great White shark<\/a>\u00a0which frequents its waters in large numbers.<\/p>\n

ABOUT CASTLE BEACH<\/h2>\n

If you want to swim in the sea then Castle Beach is the beach to head to when you are staying in the delightful village of Pearly Beach.<\/p>\n

Well equipped for visitors, there are ablution facilities and showers at the main parking area for this beach. From the car park there is a wooden walkway that takes you straight to the beach.<\/p>\n

This is the more popular of the beaches in this area so you’ll be sharing the beach with lots of other holiday makers to the area. My Trails are located along the spectacular South Western Cape shoreline 2.5hrs from Cape Town, South Africa\u2019s premier Whale watching region and the Great White Shark Capital of the world. Stretching from Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of the continent, to Walker Bay Reserve, De Kelders, just south of Hermanus.<\/p>\n

The trail can be done as a 1, 2, 3, and\/ or 4 day slack-packing hike, which includes accommodation and meals (also a self catering option).
